My first opportunity to go autocrossing rapidly approaches next Sunday, when the local SCCA chapter meets up in Yoder, KS to thrash around a track. I hope to be joining them assuming I can convince my dad that a few minutes racing around cones isn't going to cause catostophic damage to a car with 220,000 miles on it, fresh discs/pads, new seals, new fluids, relatively-low-mileage struts and axles, and regular servicing.
Eh, I'll figure it out. And I'll definitely have video and pictures to post back here of a turn-of-the-millenium Buick body-rolling and understeering around a track driven by someone with next to no idea what he's doing.

Sorry, a friend of mine beat you to it. 1995 lesabre. About three weeks later, the subframe decided it had had enough of this crap and left the rest of the car behind........So um.......yeah be careful.

Ah, well, that's about what my 2000 LeSabre will look like. I'm going to put it up on ramps sometime this week and inspect the undercarriage for any cracks or obvious damage. And hey, if it breaks it might give me a reason to sell it for scrap and buy my dream car: a Buick Roadmaster Estate.

I live in Great Falls, MT. There is not much to do, but in our short summer, there is autocross. I had a coworker, who I can say is the entire reason I am into motorsports today. He told me to swing by the races, I showed up, next thing I know he tells me "I already paid and registered you, you are racing with me today." He then threw me the keys to his 2007 Roush Stage 3. Now, ideally, doing autocross for the first time in a 430HP Supercharged Mustang is not the way to get into the sport, but I will never forget it. Now each summer I go and race 2 or 3 times with him, I pay my own entrance fee now. He pays for the tires. That car taught me more about car control in one summer, then any of my other cars in 6 winters ever could.

And this would be the car that started it all for me.
